Deanna Esposito was born and raised in Canada, where she was sent to an all-girls school because her parents wanted to keep her away from boys. Turns out the joke is on them because Deanna is very gay.

She went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toronto, with a double major in Psychology and Criminology. During her undergrad years, she worked as a courtroom reporter at Toronto's largest criminal courthouse. There, she discovered her love of storytelling and pivoted away from law school to obtain her MFA in Screenwriting at AFI (Class of '22).

Deanna recently finished a role as a Writer's PA for Peacock's upcoming series APPLES NEVER FALL, based on the book by Liane Moriarty (BIG LITTLE LIES, NINE PERFECT STRANGERS). Her AFI Thesis film, OBJECT OF DESIRE, is entering the festival circuit.

Deanna is passionate about telling stories that subvert the male gaze and represent the identities and experiences of people who have not always seen themselves in characters on the screen. Her favorite stories to write are the ones she wished she had growing up.
